It’s time to shed that holiday weight...who’s with us? But you’re a busy salon owner, and it’s tough to find the time to hit the gym. It would be a lot easier to have a “no excuses” mentality towards working out if you had a personal gym right at home. So if you are dreaming of a home gym, but think you might not have the space or the money, think again. Read on for some tips on how to create the perfect home gym on a budget.

1. Find a space you can dedicate

It all starts with the space. Make sure to keep an open mind when looking around your home for options. A spare bedroom, a home office, or even a back porch or patio all make great locations. If you don’t have a specific room you can use, look for a small area that can double as a place for you to focus.

2. Fitness-fy it!

Now that you’ve found your spot, let’s add a little motivation. Boost energy levels during workouts by making the area as light and airy as possible...a space with windows is ideal. Bring in plants to provide indoor purification power, and you can’t go wrong with adding a mirror. Mirrors let you be your own instructor as you focus on proper exercise movements.

3. Fill it with what you need

You don’t need a treadmill or lots of equipment to make your home gym effective. Just one set of free-weights, a yoga mat, a few towels, and a jump rope for cardio will do the trick. Also add some resistance bands and stability balls for more workout options.

4. Get moving

Now that you are all set up, invite a friend over and work out together. It’s easy to stream your favorite workout...even from your phone or IPad...and many are free for a trial period.
